How India Can Avoid Terror Attacks On Its Soil

A vehicle loaded with explosives rammed into a jeep full of Indian paramilitary forces and killed more than 40 soldiers in Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama. The militant group, Jaish-e-Mohammad, claimed responsibility for the attack. India alleges that Jaish is funded by Pakistan to de-stabilise the Kashmir valley.

A few days later, two terrorists belonging to Jaish were killed by the Indian army. One of them was supposedly the mastermind behind the earlier attack.

At regular intervals, militants launch attacks in Indian Administered Kashmir. After every attack, the government promises to take action and clamps down on Kashmiri civilians in general. In this podcast, a military analyst criticises the government's human rights abuses perpetrated under the garb of curtailing "terror".

Ajai Sahani, the analyst, explains how the Indian government is making "meaningless gestures for electoral gains".
