In 2014, British journalist Reni Eddo-Lodge wrote a provocative essay titled Why I'm No Longer Talking To White People About Race. Three years later, she expanded the essay into a book that detailed the history of race in Britain from slavery onwards, and expanded upon the earlier themes raised in her essay.
Her podcast, About Race, takes these themes even further. Through nine in-depth episodes, she fearlessly takes on sensitive and complex issues: From police brutality, to the racist manifestations of Britain's colonialist history in present day, to how to answer the frequently posed question "What can I [a white person] do to help?"
Each episode also features the voices of some of Britain's top thinkers, writers and activists—such as Farrukh Dhondy, Daniel Trillings and Ra'ad Khan, among others. This isn't a light podcast, but it's one that raises important issues in a way that is thoughtful, critical, and guaranteed to make you think.
