The desperate situation of Syrian refugees in Lebanon has reached a new peak. According to a recent investigation, many of them sell their body organs to support themselves and their families.
An organ trafficker from Beirut, interviewed by the BBC, called it a "booming business" and revealed shocking details of his working routine.
"I exploit people, that's what I do," he said.
According to the trafficker, he has facilitated the sale of organs harvested from about 30 refugees in the past three years.
In one case, a 17-year-old Syrian body sold his kidney for 8,300 dollars to pay off debts and rent.
More than 1.1 million Syrian refugees are already living in Lebanon.
