Renewable Energy Threatens The Stability Of The Grid?

It’s astonishing how topics as technical as electricity grid stability get politicised these days, and how science-based discussion is not a thing anymore.

This article is relevant in that it points out how irrational the renewable energy debate often gets.

To sum it up: rumour (because it's not a research-based statement) has it that grid reliability will be threatened if old power plants using coal continue to be replaced by modern power plants using wind power and solar power.

The author examines the US Department of Energy’s statement about “baseload power being necessary to a well-functioning electric grid”. He explains the concept of baseload power and how it’s often being misinterpreted.

If you find the topic interesting - have a look at: researchers see stronger electric grid in regions with large amounts of renewables as well.
