Apple Doesn't Want You To Have The App That Tracks US Drone Strikes

Five years ago, Josh Begley, a data artist and app developer, created Metadata+ (once also called Drones+), an iPhone app that would send you a push notification every time a US drone strike was reported in the news.

Since then, Apple rejected the app a couple of times and claimed that the content, was “excessively objectionable or crude”.

In 2014, the app remained in the App Store for about a year and was downloaded by more than 50,000 people.

A few days ago, and after a total of 12 rejections, Apple accepted Metadata+ again. But after this Intercept piece has been published, the app was removed again.

Seems that after all, Apple doesn't want you to know how many drone strikes take place every day in countries like Yemen, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Somalia or Libya. Meanwhile, it has become normal getting bombarded with other news tickers when other events, especially in the Western world, take place.
