World's Biggest Democratic Exercise

South Asia is the most populous region of the world, thanks mostly to India - which hosts 1/5th of the world's population.India has more voters than the population of Europe. Voting starts on April 11 and goes on for five weeks.

These elections are important because some say that the idea of a multicultural, diverse, inclusive India is being challenged. Hindu fundamentalism is on the rise. And India is effortlessly fitting into the larger pattern of Islamophobia across the world.

This podcast is a series leading up to the elections and some episodes will be uploaded during the elections as well.

In this first episode, they discuss who are incumbent Prime Minister Narendra Modi's main rivals and can they beat him?
