I recommend you listen to this podcast in a domestic setting, maybe in the kitchen while cooking. Because listening to it while walking on the street will make people around you think you’re crazy. That’s how hard you’re gonna laugh.
The Mortified is a podcast based on a popular international stage show and documentary series, that “features adults sharing the embarrassing things they created as kids – diaries, letters, lyrics & beyond – in front of total strangers”. The show invites us to “relive the awkwardness of adolescence with true tales of teen angst, from the hilarious to the heartbreaking.”
The creator of the series came up with the idea for it after finding a never-sent love letter he had written to a girl when he was 14. He thought it would be nice for people to have a space to meet and share their own childhood writings. So he made it happen.
The Mortified is great because it works like group therapy: you sit together with a bunch of people, share your vulnerabilities and make fun of them, and you know that the people around you have gone through the same troubles. The nostalgia, the compassion towards your inner kid, the dramatic style in which teenagers see their lives and many other details make this show a must.
