Researchers Find Cannabis An Effective Treatment For PTSD

Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) affects millions of people worldwide. While there is no approved medication for the psychiatric disorder, many have turned toward medicinal marijuana, rather than pharmaceuticals, to find relief from symptoms.

Researchers are also beginning to look to cannabis for its potential benefits for PTSD and such disorders. The endocannabinoid system, in fact, may play a vital role in the conditioning of fear, mood and cognition.

There are several findings within the article that provide evidence relating to the plant’s potential, including one such statement: “We know that medical cannabis has antidepressant-like properties which may be useful for treating mood disorders, suicidal behaviors and PTSD.”
