I was born in 1987 in Bucharest. I studied Psychology and Educational Sciences at the University of Bucharest. For two years I worked in a psychotherapy practice, dealing with gambling addicts. I'm an independent reporter, writing and doing video reportages mostly about social and political issues. I am currently based in Jena.
Heavyweight is like therapy sessions, only funnier and with a better script, and it will definitely give you podcast hangover. During the 15 episodes, you dive deep into nostalgia and introspection, when situations from the past that have stayed with someone are brought to the present and explored until that person gets some sort of closure.
The situations Jonathan Goldstein tells us about range from helping an old friend get back the CDs he had lent to a musician friend some 20 years ago (spoiler: the musician is Moby), helping a woman deal with her high school bullies, attempting a golf heist in order to fulfill a dead father’s wish, to locating the little girl he once saw in a short experimental video, who sat silent while her parent sobbed.
Also on the plus side, Goldstein is one of the most charismatic show hosts I’ve listened to. His humor and voice make me think he must look a bit like Morty from Rick and Morty (or maybe it’s because of the occasional ‘ladida’ he drops).
