Why Didn't Donald Trump Use The G-word For 1915?

Every year, Armenians and Turks wait for this day to come: April 24. It is the day when Armenians living in the Ottoman capital Istanbul, were detained during night raids and sent to death in 1915.

The big controversy between Armenia and Turkey over whether the mass killings in 1915 were genocide or not, continues. The Turks call it “forced immigration” which ended with thousands of civilians dead, and the Armenians have no doubt that it was “the first genocide of the 20th century". Even "Adolf Hitler got his inspiration for the Holocaust from what Turks did to Armenians."

The neighboring countries every year wait for the US president’s speech; the Turkish side hoping there is no use of the g-word. Clinton, Bush and Obama did not use the word, and today Trump also avoided the use of the genocide word.

They all call it “Meds Yeghern”, an Armenian term meaning “great calamity”.

But really, why do the US presidents avoid the word, since many European countries recognize it as a crime against humanity?

Turkey is a key ally in the region in the fight against extremist terror organizations and is a decades-long partner in NATO. It is also a country that lends it’s support to the US against Russia whenever needed.

What about Armenia? A small country with a shaking economy, with great influence under Russians...

That could be the reason.
