Trump Is Making Americans Political Again

A new activism could affect November elections.

"One in five Americans have protested in the streets or participated in political rallies since the beginning of 2016. Of those, 19 percent said they had never before joined a march or a political gathering."

Mary Jordan and Scott Clement argue in The Washington Post that Trump might "make America great again", but differently from what he envisioned.

For the first time since the Vietnam War era, Americans are joining protests and getting political. But while back in the 70s activists were college students who took the streets, today many activists are 50 or older, and "36 percent earn more than $100,000 a year". According to a poll, 70 percent of the "recently motivated activists" disapprove of the president.

Another interesting fact — although it doesn't come really as a surprise — is that 46 percent of rallygoers participated in rallies related to women's rights.

This analysis of the results of a poll conducted among a random sample of 1,850 adults nationwide is excellent to better understand the current political and social struggle in the States, in a moment when the whole world is looking with uncertainty at one of the most powerful nations in the world.
