Last March, an American drone attacked a mosque in a village in Syria. According to locals, about 38 people — all of them civilians — have been killed by the strike.
But the Pentagon's claim is different. According to them, "terrorists" had gathered inside the mosque and the strike killed "only" one civilian.
However, the US military didn't interview any locals. Besides, not a single US personnel visited the bombing site.
Accounts by locals from the village still counter the official narrative of the US.
However, in my very own experience, this will not change much.
Recently, I visited drone strike areas in Afghanistan by myself and talked with family members of killed civilians. Most of them are totally on their own. Nobody — not a single journalist or human rights observer — visited their remote villages, while both the US and the Afghan government didn't show any interest in who really has been killed by the strikes.
All these people remain faceless and invisible because the US and its allies constantly lie when they kill civilians. They hide their crimes and know that, at the end, they will once again will get away with it.
