While Yemen is being destroyed by the Saudi-led war, U.S. drone strikes "against militants" are still taking place regularly.
However, in many cases, the victims are not armed fighters but simply civilians.
Between 2014 and 2015, for example, American drones in Yemen killed more civilians than Al Qaeda attacks did, according to the United Nations.
Since Donald Trump took over the White House, Yemen is still among the most drone bombed countries in the world.
Also this month, civilians have been killed by drone strikes. One of them was 13-year-old Amer Ali al-Saqra Huraidan. He was in a car with his cousin when a drone attacked them.
"A short time later, Amer’s cousin Hasan awoke to fire and smoke rising from the mangled pickup truck and heard the buzz of the drone overhead. He had wounds on his right hand, leg, and on his head; chunks of shrapnel would later be removed from his body. But Amer was barely recognizable. The strike had charred his body and torn it to pieces, killing him instantly."
However, according to the U.S. government's doctrine, every "military-aged male" in a strike zone can be considered an "armed combatant".
This means that for Trump and his fellows, even Amer, an innocent teenager, is just another dead terrorist.
