In lack of hospitals, Venezuelans are reaching for magic; In lack of food, they are eating pets and pigeons; and in lack of justice, they are giving their lives in protests.
‘’I summon the original power for the people to invoke a National Constituent Assembly’’, were the words yelled by Nicolas Maduro, Venezuela’s president, calling for an association that replaces the current congress with the intention of redacting a new constitution. Before this is done, a national referendum must be made. If Venezuelans were to agree to this, an election would follow to designate the people in charge of the redaction. However, violating once more the constitution they desire to eliminate, Maduro’s socialist government decided that the consultative referendum was unnecessary, while parallel, the polls are showing a rejection to it of 80% .
‘’Will you support me? Or do you want violence, do you want fire and death? It's either Constituent Assembly or war, if the Bolivarian Revolution would be destroyed we would start a battle, we will never give up and what wasn’t accomplished with votes shall be achieved with bullets.’’
