The Boy Who Cried Abuse: A Heartbreaking Story Of Trust In Times Of Doubt

Keri Williams and her husband had two children when they decided to adopt Devon and Kayla. Shortly after, the couple gave birth to yet one more child — it was around then when the family of seven found itself on the eye of the storm. Devon had developed a heavily perverse aggressiveness towards Keri's kids — and, as if this wouldn't be enough, he also perfected a mythomania focused on making grown ups believe he was being victim of abuse.

‘He was 10. There he was diagnosed with reactive attachment disorder (RAD), a result of early childhood trauma. Although the disorder is considered rare for the population at large, many adoptive and foster children struggle with attachment issues. Due to the effects of early trauma, these kids’ brains get “stuck” in survival mode.’

Devon jumped from doctor to doctor over months and years, unable to heal. However, what happens when the stories from a boy whom nobody believes in turn out to be true?

This is a tale of impunity and cruelty. Yet, above everything Devor’s and Keri’s story is all about resilience, patience and trust.
