Riz Ahmed Describes What So Many Brown Muslim Men Experience

This interview by Mehdi Hasan with the famous British-Pakistani actor Riz Ahmed is definitely worth hearing. Apart from the fact that Hasan's podcast is mostly great, I would say that the talk with Ahmed, whose most recent movie is "Venom", can be regarded as a new highlight.

Ahmed grew up in the United Kingdom, and was Hasan's schoolmate. In fact, both share a similar background. They are both brown Muslim men with a South Asian (Pakistani/Indian) background. So both of them know what they are talking about.

Especially Ahmed has, in my opinion, some great thoughts. He is a real cosmopolitan who makes clear that identity is not anything stiff or frozen but something that stays fluid and alterable.

And of course, he also talks about being political in Hollywood, or to be more precise, he says that people with his background are forced to be political – not only in the film industry.
