Both Elon Musk and Joe Rogan are very popular names, so it should not be a surprise that millions watch them when they come together to stream online on YouTube — and also smoke weed.
The Tesla chief executive Elon Musk had a talk with comedian Joe Rogan, an advocate of legalizing weed, on his live internet show, and Musk was handed a joint and whiskey.
Musk asked Rogan: "Is that a joint? Or is it a cigar?" and was told that it was a cigarette containing tobacco and marijuana (which is legal in California). Asked whether he had tried it before, the entrepreneur said: "Yeah, I think I tried one once." In reply, Rogan said: "You probably can't because of stockholders." Musk retorted: "I mean it's legal, right?"
There were speculations that Musk was alluding to cannabis when said he wanted to take Tesla private. It was also speculated that he was simply "high" when giving the interview: something he vehemently denied. The Tesla executive had taken investors by surprise when he said he was considering taking the firm off the stock market at $420 per share: 420 happens to be a popular term for weed.
Musk told the New York Times in his interview:
Musk surely did not sit there like a "stone" during his Rogan podcast: he was handed a Samurai sword by Rogan at a certain point, and Musk himself had brought into the studio one of his tunneling firm's flamethrowers. So, overall the whole episode was quite a show.
The billionaire and the comedian debated issues like China, artificial intelligence, humanity, and Tesla. Musk got quite philosophical at times, musing:
"Therefore, we are most likely in a simulation, because we exist. I think most likely this is just about probability. There are many, many simulations. You might as well call them reality, or you could call them multiverse."
