Daria Sukharchuk is a journalist based in Berlin, where she works as a news anchor for Russian-language OstWest.tv. Her writing has appeared in Motherboard and ZEIT Online, Cosmopolitan, as well as Afisha (Moscow's leading city magazine). She specializes on the topic of human rights, migration, and mental health.

Laurent Richard, the French journalist behind the idea of Freedom Voices Network – the project that aims to provide a means for journalists to keep their stories alive and being written even should they be killed – was the first outsider to arrive on the scene of the Charlie Hebdo massacre. He also had his reporting material confiscated by the Azerbaijan border police and the only way for him to keep his story was to have a colleague smuggle it out of the country for him. Journalism – at least certain kinds of it – has always been a different profession, but this initiative shows that today it is much easier to keep stories alive, and successfully cooperate on big investigations like the Panama Papers.
