HIV Is Spreading In Russia, But The Government Is Doing Little To Stop It

In 2016, the number of officially registered HIV patients in Russia reached a million. In Russia, the most common route of infection is through needles, but the government is not implementing any harm reduction measures such as needle exchange, injection rooms or methadone programmes, and is often blocking private initiatives that try to do this, thus allowing the virus to spread.
