1200 Years Of Women Composers

An uncounted number of women were forced to bury their musical talents and desires due to the social environment of their times, while many more hid themselves behind male musicians – fathers, brothers, husbands, sons – fixing their works or even composing entire pieces for them without receiving the smallest credit. It was only a minuscule number of women who were able to let their abilities flourish, yet the majority of them has been forgotten by history.

This is a 78-hour playlist which takes us from medieval times to the present day, honoring 1200 years of female composers and their work. It contains over 900 pieces arranged in chronological order, enabling us this way to admire the constant reinvention of music.

It will take you a few days to listen to, but I assure you you'll be delighted.
