Born in the south of Mexico, she was raised in rebel Zapatista autonomous municipalities to later settle down in San Cristobal de las Casas where she cofounded ''La Casa de las Flores'', a non-profit dedicated to educate, feed and care for the marginalized children living on extreme poverty in the streets of her city. After graduating from Nursing school she enrolled in Biotechnology and Astrophysics.
An uncounted number of women were forced to bury their musical talents and desires due to the social environment of their times, while many more hid themselves behind male musicians – fathers, brothers, husbands, sons – fixing their works or even composing entire pieces for them without receiving the smallest credit. It was only a minuscule number of women who were able to let their abilities flourish, yet the majority of them has been forgotten by history.
This is a 78-hour playlist which takes us from medieval times to the present day, honoring 1200 years of female composers and their work. It contains over 900 pieces arranged in chronological order, enabling us this way to admire the constant reinvention of music.
