Graduating from 3A School of Business and Development, Nina was first involved professionally in humanitarian work as a trainer and manager in France and abroad. Her research in the field questioning engagement and altruism conducted her to work as an editor, writing articles. From 2011 to 2015, she worked in Russia as the web chief editor of a French newspaper. She’s now based in France and works as a freelancer on several projects, including writing, and trainings on Solutions journalism or Media decoding. She’s representing the Solutions Journalism Network in Europe since October 2016, which conducted her to train journalists in Denmark, Moldova, Poland, France, and Belgium, and give presentations to several newsrooms.
Some friends of mine visited Belize a few months ago. They came back very frustrated from all the rules they faced to keep them away from natural reserves, especially when it came to diving.
To me, it sounded like the possible limitations of a good policy aiming to preserve the ocean and Belize's natural environment.
That what solutions journalism is about: reporting on a response to a problem. It is never perfect, it has caveats, risks, and limitations. We don't even know if it will last.
But when looking for ways to solve a problem, it is useful to know: who is doing better facing that same problem?
The poor state of the ocean today is anyone's problem. What if Belize had a good response to it, despite tourists' frustrations? And what if we could all benefit from Belize's experiment? This is a story of change, and the impact it is producing.
