Who Should Own The Grid?

The ownership of the electricity grid in Europe is a polarizing topic. So much so that the topic is often avoided entirely in public debates. 

Regardless of the arguments put forward, if you advocate for public or private ownership of the grid, you immediately land in a box. This is a pity because it flattens a complex and multifaceted topic and silences valuable arguments.

Here is an interesting voice in the discussion – a story of Wolfhagen, a German town where the grid moved from private to public hands. After describing the story of what’s called Rekommunalisierung in German, the author wonders whether the UK could follow suit.
