The Circular Economy Might Save The Planet

Did you know that in Japan, it is illegal to throw away households appliances? Or that its recycle rate for metals is 98%? These are just two examples of how the circular economy is emerging, especially in countries that do not have vast resources of their own. And this is what this Economist short documentary will show you.

Far beyond recycling, the circular economy is about creating a whole new economic system, restorative and regenerative by design. But to put it into practice, a collective transition effort is needed. There is a wide enough variety of challenges - the biggest is dealing with the fact that using disposable materials is still cheaper than going circular-. Yet, there are also numerous pioneer projects that are changing businesses mentalities from the Philippines to Amsterdam.

In no more than 14 minutes, this didactic, informative and pretty enjoyable video aims to show that today’s aspiration will be tomorrow’s reality. This is only the beginning.

"The earth cycle" can be found on youtube troughout this link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xaK452BF3Cw   or within The Economist films website presented below.
