Shared Solar On The Rise In US

Although solar PV is growing in US, it still remains a tiny portion (1%) of the country’s electricity. In order to scale up, it needs to access new markets.

The US solar market, however, still seems to be dominated by two models: small residential and large utility-scale solar plants.

This might feel alienating to ... basically the majority of the society, points out the author of the article.

The current market leaves out "those of us who are not utility executives and do not have the money or suitable rooftops to install solar ourselves. That's a lot of people who love solar power but have no way to get directly involved in it."

The author therefore takes a closer look at the currently forming in-between market of ‘shared solar’. He paints a very promising picture, while pointing out the main policy drivers supportive of shared solar development.

He also does it in an entertaining and easy-to-understand manner.
