A Blockchain-Based Platform That Raises Capital For Future Renewable Energy Projects

The Interchange is a brilliant podcast in general and I would recommend listening to every single episode. This one is especially interesting because it takes a closer look at the WePower project. This blockchain-based platform lets green energy project developers, solar or wind plant builders for instance, raise capital by selling their future energy production upfront in the form of energy tokens.

Translation? Say you are a developer wanting to raise money for your solar project. The platform allows you to issue tokens for future electricity delivery. Or perhaps you are an individual investor, who believes it's a good thing to invest in renewable energy. While buying the tokens you are buying the future electricity delivered at a later date, when the project is up and running.

Why is this important? Because projects like this one create a market for such tokens, that can be traded in various ways. It also creates a platform that supports the financing of such renewable energy projects.
