I was born in 1987 in Bucharest. I studied Psychology and Educational Sciences at the University of Bucharest. For two years I worked in a psychotherapy practice, dealing with gambling addicts. I'm an independent reporter, writing and doing video reportages mostly about social and political issues. I am currently based in Jena.
With “Where Should We Begin?” we take part in real couples’ therapy sessions, under the guidance of highly charismatic relationship therapist Esther Perel. She’s asked people who seek her help for permission to record their meetings, while protecting their identity, and this is how the podcast came to be.
In the first episode of season one, Perel is dealing with a couple who are having infidelity problems. What she’s doing is basically teaching them how to talk to one another again and how to avoid the patterns of communication that feed the vicious circle they find themselves in. As for the couple, I think that anyone who’s had some tough times in a relationship can hear the ring of authenticity in what these people are feeling and how they express it. I think listening to them makes one feel reassured that they’re not the only ones going through stuff, but it also gives one hope and possible solutions.
This podcast can restore your faith in psychotherapy, in case you lost it. Esther Perel is so good at her job, that her show should be on the syllabus of Psychology students’.
