Last January, members of the infamous Navy SEAL Team 6 killed more than two dozen civilians in Yemen. At least 16 women and children were among the victims.
The massacre was considered US President Donald Trump's first special-ops raid. Since it has been widely reported, there were harsh critics.
In fact, such operations have taken place in Yemen for years and faced a huge increase during the presidency of Barack Obama.
At this very moment, SEAL Team 6 is still present in Yemen, and they even attempted a second raid one month after their botched operation.
According to an unnamed US military official, the mission was aborted at the last minute.
However, this doesn't change the fact that Team 6 will continue being present in Yemen. President Trump already declared that parts of Yemen are now areas of "active hostility", giving military commanders more authority to conduct counterterrorism operations such as ground assaults and airstrikes by conventional aircraft as well as drones.
Or, to make it more precise: The US president gives his commanders more authority to kill without consequences.
