The Moth: Live Storytelling

Good storytelling might be one of the biggest pleasures in life—the joy of sitting next to people you like and getting lost in their skillful narration is specifically what drew novelist George Dawes Green to creating The Moth back in the late 90s: a set of shows where regular people told five-minute stories live on stage.

It grew so big that personalities such as Jonathan Ames, Malcolm Gladwell, Salman Rushdie, Annie Proulx and Christopher Hitchens have all attended to share their own ravishing tales and to hear others.

We can be part of these events by listening to the podcast, which is presented to us in an innovative format, unlike any other podcast I've heard: all stories are told live, no notes, no scripts—just words and true chronicles of fascinating events as remembered by the storyteller.

I just finished listening to Robin Utz's story Loving Grace, a soul-crushing yet overwhelmingly beautiful short story about love, pregnancy loss and resilience, which I highly recommend to you. Once you start, you won't be able to pause.
