The article I bring today is rather old. It was published on Halloween's Eve of 2013 and is the fortune story of one of the luckiest men in the last century.
In 1999 Bill Morgan, an Australian truck driver, was declared dead for 14 minutes due to a work accident that got him rushed to hospital where he was given a drug to which he had an extreme allergic reaction. Bill went into a coma and his heart stopped for a quarter hour. Doctors declared him dead and prepared to disconnect him from the life support system ... Somehow, to the amazement of both doctors and family, Bill woke up from his coma with all his skills intact. To celebrate his recovery and his quick engagement to the girl of his dreams, he playfully bought himself a scratch lottery card. Suddenly, Bill was the owner of a $27,000 car.
That's pretty good luck already. But, as the gig goes, God wasn’t over apologizing to Bill for his little 14-minute mistake.
After hearing his story, the local news contacted Bill, asking him to replay the moment of the scratch. A group of cameras followed Bill into a store where he, skeptically, bought himself another ticket ... His face went white, "I just won $250,000. I am not joking. I just won $250,000. Please don't film me," he said. "I don't believe this is happening. I think I will have another heart attack. Oh gosh!" To the surprise of Bill, the little news station crew and Australia, Bill had won again. Morgan immediately called his bride to let her know he would buy her her dream house. His story was right away covered worldwide by BBC and CNN, to soon be forgotten and placed into history's cabinet of the extraordinary and the unbelievable.
The popular joke goes that Bill spent those 14 minutes in hell, where the devil kindly welcomed him:
“Welcome to hell, Phill.”
“What? Hell? Who's Phill?” Bill asked.
“Wait, are you not Phill Morgan?”
“Bill Morgan! My name is Bill!”
“Ohh, I see ... Give me a sec,” Satan replies before dialing heaven.
