Six artists - musicians, novelists, photographers and videographers - took the journey on the Trans-Siberian Railway from Moscow into the heart of Siberia in Krasnoyarsk, though Kazan, Yekaterinburg and Novosibirsk. They were inspired by Walter Benjamin's 'The Storyteller'. They looked out of the windows at the barren winter landscape, shopped for souvenirs on brief stops between cities and observed their fellow train travellers.
They reflected on learning languages, on the similarities between Welsh and Avar and on space travel - it's not hard to imagine an endless space journey if one has spent many days in a small train compartment.
This site combines all their works: music, narratives, poems and conversations. The reader can track their journey on an interactive map, and make 'stops' in each of the five cities to see documentaries and articles by the travellers showing their different takes on the same journey.
