In accordance with the "America first" strategy, Donald Trump is removing climate change from the list of national security threats. It was previously added to the list by the Obama administration.
A senior official said the Trump plan removes that determination — following the administration's threat to pull out of the Paris climate accord — but will mention the importance of environmental stewardship, according to the Independent article.
Mr Trump's position on climate change isn't anything new, as he famously kept lamenting on how America puts itself in a disadvantageous position with international treaties that aim to curb climate change.
“Climate change is not identified as a national security threat but climate and the importance of the environment and environmental stewardship are discussed,” said a senior administration official.
Instead of climate change, economic development & competition will be prioritized.
