"Cli-Fi" (Climate Fiction): The New Literary Genre That Isn't That Fictional

All we read, hear, and speak regarding the future and climate tends to be done over a great deal of numbers and statistics. How far into the land will sea levels rise? How high up or down will the temperatures leap? How many billions of people will starve and die?

Scary? Yes; however, easy for the mind to imagine? Not entirely. And perhaps that's why a growing amount of authors are going far beyond the numbers to bring us not only the mental images but present us with how this future smells, tastes, and feels. This is Cli-Fi (Climate Fiction), which is set in a universe where climate change chaos and the devastation we earthlings brought onto ourselves reign.

"In the present day the country is so filled with lies and fantasy and fiction surrounding the truth, that it might require the fiction writer to plainly lay out what is reality and what is not."
